Where is spring?

Friday, April 20, 2018

Looking over the posts from last year, I realized that we had already done a Mummy Berry scouting post and some fields and varieties were quite advanced.  The cool spring this year has lead to a slow start and has meant that things aren't quite that advanced.  However, looking at the long range forecast, we are in for some moist and warm weather in the coming week that could lead to rapid development.  To refresh your memory, check out the Management of Mummy Berry Disease in Highbush Blueberry fact sheet on Perennia's website, along with the Highbush Blueberry Insect & Disease Management Schedule for NS 2017.

We will begin the official mummy berry scouting and posts early next week but in the meantime, I would recommend everyone start doing field walks, particularly looking at their earliest varieties and taking note of their development stage.
