Hot off the Press:  Aphid Monitoring and Virus Final Report

Jennifer Haverstock has wrapped up the final report for this project.  Congratulation to Jennifer in bringing this large project to a close.  There are some very interesting trends highlighted in the report.   These include the increasing positive virus tests in the last two years, there is aphid flight activity throughout the summer and into fall, intensive scouting and timely spraying can control aphids and virus spread.

Strawberry Box labeling options:

The Packaging options for the Nova Scotia Strawberry Industry report was completed by Darrell Munro and Peter Chapman of Balance Creative and SKUFood in response to the need for labeling on berry boxes for the 2021 production season.    The best option for labeling will be different for each farm depending on their size, and how the berries are handled through the cold chain.  If growers are using a quality certifying body like CanadaGap, they may have slightly higher standards compared to CFIA concerning the amount of information that must be on the label.
